Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates

ICRU is committed to educating students through research, scholarship, and creative activities to benefit the research mission of the university. From exploration of opportunities to formal research presentation, ICRU promotes professional skill development by focusing on communication and cultivation of the mentee/mentor relationship.

Public Policy Center Office of the Vice President for Research

Student success is a key part of the mission of the Public Policy Center. Research clearly shows that college students who have learning experiences outside the classroom – like doing research, working a job, participating in student orgs, or doing service-learning work – do better in school (higher GPA’s), are more likely to graduate, and are more successful later in their careers. Student Funding & Support International Programs

International Programs helps students identify and pursue the many undergraduate and graduate scholarship and funding opportunities that support projects with an international emphasis. Grants and fellowships can provide opportunities for academic and language study, research, and internships. 

Honors at Iowa

Honors at Iowa focuses on building community and knowledge through learning-by-doing. The program supports valuable academic, experiential, and funding opportunities, including the Writing Fellows and Iowa City Foreign Relations Council initiatives.  

Undergraduate Research Experiences Office of the Vice President for Research

Research involvement is an important part of undergraduate education at the University of Iowa. Students in all disciplines benefit from being a part of the scholarly work of our faculty and staff. These opportunities provide undergraduates with hands on experience as they prepare themselves for graduate or professional training. Outstanding programs and mentors abound at Iowa for students as they begin to sample possible career paths and many undergraduates make research a focal point of their academic training. 

Grad Student Success Center The Graduate College

While the Office of Graduate Student Success is aimed at supporting graduate students at the University of Iowa, many of their online resources and workshop opportunities are relevant for undergrads who are thinking about pursuing masters or doctoral-level work at the UI or elsewhere.

The Writing Center University of Iowa 

The Writing Center helps all in the University community improve their writing, including attitudes and self-confidence about writing. The Center offers semester-long tutoring programs with weekly meetings. Also available: as-needed single appointments, online tutoring, and online help with specific writing questions. 

Pomerantz Career Services University of Iowa 

The Pomerantz Career Center offers centralized and comprehensive services focused on the areas of Career Advising, Leadership and Career-related Academic Courses, Experiential Education, and Campus Recruiting.
