NSF Graduate Research Fellowships go to young Hawkeye scholars
From the design of robots whose materials and movements mimic nature's resilience to the investigation of how pollen ruptures and spreads in extreme weather to the analysis of transaction-level data to estimate changes in consumption during wildfires, these Hawkeyes are working to understand how our world is changing, make better use of what we know now, and consider what may shape our future.
Congratulations to Nyah Davis (2022, Mathematics), Lily Jones (2021, Chemistry), Anvay Pradhan (2022, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science), Riley Lewers (2020, Economics, Mathematics), Emily Silich (2021, Astronomy, Physics), and Victoria Cassady (2020, Biochemistry, Microbiology) on their selection as 2022 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellows.

Application development support is available for rising seniors and alumni who are applying after graduation from Iowa, but before they apply to graduate programs for the following academic year.
Students interested in applying for the 2023 NSF GRFP competition should schedule an initial consult with the Office of Scholar Development to learn more about the application process and relevant resources as soon as they are aware of their interest in the fellowship. The 2023 application is expected to open in late July or early August, but we encourage rising seniors and prospective alumni to connect with the Director as early in the summer as possible.
